Mike OvermanDirector, Event Facilities
Mike has worked for Magnolia ISD since 2002 and has more than 18 years of experience as a licensed athletic trainer. He holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. With a keen eye for detail along with his experience working behind the scenes ensuring events operate smoothly is what has made his transition to the Director of Event Facilities position an easy one. His passion for coordinating activities, dedicated work ethic, and attention to detail reinforces the Magnolia Event Center exceptional experience vision.

Tanya SimmonsEvent Coordinator
Tanya has worked for Magnolia ISD since 2018 and has more than 14 years experience in both corporate HR and in education. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Educational Psychology. She owned a small business that hosted educational events for homeschoolers to teach skills in agriculture and farming. These two passions are what led her here where she works as the Event Coordinator helping to ensure that events both big and small are memorable and celebrate the people and students hosting them. Her creativity and eye for detail ensure that every event will be an exceptional one.

Derrick JohnsonExecutive Chef
Derrick began his culinary experience as an intern for Omni hotels at the age of 16. He received formal training at the Texas Culinary Academy Le cordon bleu and has trained under Chef Benjamin Nathan, a protege of Master French Chef Jean Micheal Bergougnous. He has more than 17 years of experience and is focused on bringing a new look and taste to the Magnolia Event Center and Magnolia ISD.
